Baltimore Adventures

Straight from our guest travel log entries and discussions around the breakfast table here are some sample adventures for you to experience in Baltimore. There are, of course many other options to choose off our main Trip Planner Page.

Day 1

  • Arrive at the Blue Door on Baltimore and check-in (our room check-in is at 3:00PM, but your bags are welcome for early arrival)
  • A short walk takes you to Fells Point to check out the shops and galleries. Take in an afternoon beverage, ice cream, or snack.

  • Come back to the Blue Door to relax before dinner or dine in Fells Point.
  • Want to crack some crabs, Maryland’ staple seafood? We can direct you to places within walking distance or short ride nearby.
  • There will be a treat waiting at your bedside when you return in the evening to finish off a great first day. (You can look forward to brownies and strawberries, fresh chocolate chip cookies, homemade fudge with fresh berries, or biscotti and fruit)

Day 2

  • There will be an ample breakfast at the Blue Door to start your day. Take, as much time as you desire, after all you are here to relax too.
  • You now know the way to Fells Point, and may have checked out the Water Taxi Stop there. Get an all-day Water Taxi Pass and explore the Harbor today.
  • Stop at the Inner Harbor Visitors Center. Go to Fort McHenry and double-back to the Inner Harbor area for a light lunch.

  • Take a stroll on the promenade. You never know what might be happening.
  • Climb atop Federal hill for some great views and some relax time.
  • There is of course shopping to be found at the Inner Harbor.
  • If unique art is your interest, spend some time at the American Visionary Art Museum.
  • Or, make the most of your water taxi ride, go to the Canton stop and the Korean War Monument. There will be great ride in store for you past the Marina district.

  • In Canton walk across Boston Street and over to O’Donnell Square to enjoy one of pubs or eateries. There is also a great Italian Pastry shop that you may not be able to resist visiting.
  • If you missed cracking crabs last night you can do it by the water right at the Captain James water taxi stop.
  • Or, just put up your feet for awhile back at the Blue Door.
  • In the evening, maybe you have tickets to an Orioles Game, a Concert or a Show. Take a taxi and enjoy the evening.
  • For a relaxed night try out one of the restaurants nearby (Three, Salt, or Life of Reilly’s). If it is Italian you want, maybe Little Italy dining is in order.
  • Don’t eat too much desert; remembering that wonderful treat you had the night before.

Day 3

  • There is always something special for breakfast at the Blue Door. Enjoy at your leisure.
  • Did you do too much walking yesterday? Why not take a tour on the Baltimore City Tour Trolley or on one of the Duck Boats. There is also a cruise on one of the regularly scheduled day ships where you can see Baltimore from the water.
  • One of everyone’s favorites is the National Aquarium (plan to spend most of the day there).

  • A Baltimore museum. There are so many to choose from (The Walter’s Art Museum, the Maritime Museum, The Constellation)
  • There also are Baltimore’s neighborhoods to check out. Go to Mount Vernon and see the first Washington monument. Check out the Basilica (First Catholic Church in America). Visit the architecture of Federal Hill and the Cross Street Market. If you are driving, there is Hampden, the site of the annual Hon’ Fest.
  • Is it Sports you are into? Go to the Sports Legends and Babe Ruth museums or possibly take in a tour of Camden Yards.
  • So much to do, maybe its time to relax back at the Blue Door and plan a special night out in Harbor East or one of those neat neighborhoods you checked out on one of your afternoon visits.

Of course you can ask us to help plan your day. There is something for everyone.
